Chapter 1: Built From Stone

HELLO LUVS! WELCOME TO 'STREAMS OF CONSCIOUSNESS' AKA MY BLOG!

For my existing followers, well it’s time that I fully stop instagram story ranting and properly connect with you through another domain which I have called 'streams of consciousness'.

If you’re new here, well let me introduce myself to you!

I’m PARAS, an artist, musician, songwriter and all around creative based in Pōneke, Aotearoa. 

I write happy songs, I write sad songs, I write love songs, I write break up songs? I write songs about the gift of existing, to the existential crisis taking over my very being. However I feel, in which ever way I live it, chances are I will write about it. And chances are, you’re most certainly going to hear about it.

My sound is inspired from indie genres of pop, rock and alternative music From mainstream acts including Taylor Swift and Harry Styles, to old school legend such as Fleetwood Mac and Kate Bush, to more left-field queens like Beabadoobee and Clairo - all of my influences create a unique and authentic sound true to my journey as an artist.

‘Built from stone’ is how I’ve always allegorically described myself (Not to be confused with made of stone, trust me, I AM AN EMOTIONAL PISCES). No matter the obstacles I’ve endured, I’ve always managed to uphold a resilience and overcome anything through my art… I could give you the rundown now, but perhaps I’ll keep you curious and trauma dump in a later blog post.

This blog section is to give you some honest, truthful and raw insight into my life and to build a little community with you all! I could be posting monthly, daily, weekly, who knows? I guess we will just have to see how spontaneous I actually am.

SOME EXCITING THINGS COMING UP!! 

1. I’M RELEASING AN EP!! AHHHHHH!! 

After years of doubt, lack of resources & finances, I’m (FINALLY) releasing music. This is a culmination of my earliest compositions, displaying my roots as an artist. There’s songs about love, loss, heartbreak, mental health and finally realising your worth! There is at least one song for everyone to relate to on this I’m sure (I hope ummmm).

I truly believe that timing is everything and I genuinely believe the universe was telling me to hold off on this until the perfect time. Until I was fully ready and capable to do so. I’ve also collaborated with the most amazingly talented female and gender-diverse creatives/professionals on this release and it’s been my proudest achievement to share this experience with them.

There’s songs about love, loss, heartbreak, mental health and finally realising your worth! There is at least one song for everyone to relate to on this and I’m super duper excited for you to hear it all very sooooooon.

1. Speaking of collaborating with women and gender-diverse individuals, I’m actually returning to Uni next year to complete an honors! (Yes, I know I said I was over uni and ready to get out but actually I lied so jokes on you lmao).

Gender disparity and empowering female and Enby creatives in the music industry has become a growing passion of mine throughout my bachelor’s degree. From seeing blatant misogyny and unapologetically calling it out, I feelI should put my money where my mouth is and foster that passion into not just an honors year, but further delving into how it can impact my artistry as well. All in all, I really want to make a difference and highlight this issue so HONORS HERE I COME BABYYYYY!!

1. Summer is on the horizon and I’m so excited! Im manifesting laneway tickets next week so I can  have my official brat summer with all the girls and gays! Summer time is when I’m the most inspired creatively and I can’t wait to see what lyrics and melodic ideas pop into my head over this season - Maybe (just mayyyyyybe) I can perform them for you next year as well (oooooooo everyone says in unison)
